What should you pay attention to when processing molds in CNC machining centers?

CNC machining center is a machine tool needed for mold processing. So what do we need to pay attention to when processing molds? Today we will follow the editor to learn about what we should pay attention to when processing molds so that we can process them better. produce ideal products.
1. When the ball end milling cutter is milling a curved surface, the cutting speed at the tool tip is very low. If the ball cutter is used to mill a relatively gentle curved surface perpendicular to the work surface, the surface quality cut by the ball cutter tip will be relatively poor, so The spindle speed should be increased appropriately, and cutting with the tool tip should be avoided.
2. Avoid cutting vertically. There are two types of flat-bottomed cylindrical milling cutters. One is that the end face has a sharp hole and its end edge does not pass through the center.
The other type has no sharp holes on the end face, and the end edges are connected and pass through the center. When milling curved surfaces, end mills with sharp holes must not feed vertically downward like a drill unless process holes are pre-drilled. Otherwise, the milling cutter will be broken. If you use an end knife without a sharp hole, you can feed the knife vertically downward, but because the blade angle is too small and the axial force is large, it should be avoided as much as possible. Although the vertical cutting effect of using a ball-end milling cutter is better than that of a flat-bottomed end mill, it is also recommended not to use this cutting method because the axial force is too large and affects the cutting effect.
3. When milling complex curved surfaces in mold cavities, a longer cycle is generally required. Therefore, appropriate inspections of machine tools, fixtures, and cutting tools should be carried out before each start of milling to avoid failure midway, affecting the machining accuracy, or even causing waste products.
4. When milling the mold cavity in the CNC machining center, the filing allowance should be appropriately controlled according to the roughness of the machined surface. For parts that are difficult to mill, if the machined surface roughness is poor, more filing allowance should be left. For easy-to-machine parts such as flat surfaces and right-angle grooves, the machined surface roughness value should be reduced as much as possible to reduce filing work. amount to avoid affecting the accuracy of the cavity surface due to large-area filing.
